Douglas in Fur began in Harlow Town, Essex in March 2020.

“Lockdown” and “isolation” were words Bradley (vocals / guitars) quickly became familiar with, as this was now his new reality.  Frustrated at home, trying to latch onto any creativity he could, he found himself spending most nights watching films and listening to records that celebrated the muckier side of life, envisioning a band of his own that could pull off pop-esque songs with a more vulgar, gritty approach with visuals to match.

It was hard enough trying to form a band, even harder when the world had shut down for an indefinite period of time.  Still, the hope that everything would go back to normal fuelled what would eventually become Douglas in Fur.

An old band mate, Ben (drums), had just come home from a 2 year trip around Australia and New Zealand and quickly became a member; the pair would go on to write songs and discuss ideas over FaceTime until they could officially start rehearsing in June once restrictions had eased.

After many members came and went, an old school friend of Ben’s, Chris (guitars), showed up to a rehearsal one day knowing every song they had written, only going off of distorted iPhone recordings Ben had sent him of their rehearsals. It was safe to say he left that day as an official member.

Fast forward a couple of years, the band had moved to London, were gigging regularly and had a couple of releases under their belt. During one show at a small pub in East London, Dylan (bass) stopped by to watch and visit his old travel companion as he had also just come back from New Zealand.

Not long after, the bassist at the time decided to part ways. With only a month to go until their next show at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, the band where dreading the idea of cancelling. Sure enough, Dylan stepped in and, after that night, it was clear the Douglas in Fur line-up was complete.

Since then, they have played nearly 40 shows, as well as releasing a live session and 2 more singles. The most recent single being ‘Call Me at 5’, which is available to stream HERE.
